Once again I am updating my topic choice.  I am not changing my topic but rather the wording of my thesis question.  After a little research I was able to better describe the intention of my paper. My new thesis question is: "To what extent has affirmative action become reverse discrimination?"  I think that this revision clarifies the point that I will be trying to prove in my research paper.

Today I finalized my topic and formulated it into a question. I also edited this blog so that it is able to be read by others. During the remainder time in class I began seacrching for information for my topic. I found one site that has some relevant facts that might help in writing my paper.

New Topic

I have chosen my new topic after listening to a talk radio station. They were discussing the fact that minorities are being treated unfairly from the rest of us because they have special benefits that the rest of us don't have. They were saying that our equality is being hurt and there is prejudice against average middle class whites. I will be doing my research paper based upon this question that I have developped: Has America created minorities by giving them more benefits and opportunities than those of the rest of society?

I currently am undecided on my topic. I am looking at the questions "Have the large salaries of professional athletes had a negative impact on the athletes or the sports?" and "Should the federal government provide health care for all citizens who cannot afford their own?" The first question I am interested in because of my love for sports and would be a fun topic. My second question pertains to my republican side and this is a controversal issue between republicans and democrats.
